Dale Parent Burkhiser was born in Moline, Illinois on May 12, 1922 to Grace Fielty Burkhiser and William Henry Burkhiser. He married Evelyn Conklin and they had four children. He moved to southern California as a young boy and lived there until he moved to Las Vegas in 1954.
Dale served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. After his discharge, he was employed as a mechanic for Slick Airways, then later as a manager for Bob’s Big Boy restaurants. After a divorce, he left southern California, moving to Las Vegas where he worked at the Riviera Hotel, the Flamingo and the International Hotels (the International became the Las Vegas Hilton). He was employed as a casino floor supervisor and was respected for his honesty and integrity.
In November 1966, he proposed marriage to Elizabeth Marhold and upon their marriage in March 1967; he helped her raise her 7-year-old son who always considered him his own father.
Dale had a great love for horses and they played an important part in his life and his family’s.
Dale is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth; four children: Linda Blue, Judith Welch, Leonard Burkhiser and William Todd Marhold; three grandsons: Larry, Matthew and Jaime; and two granddaughters: Ashley and Celeste.
The family would like to thank Comfort Hospice Care for their kind and considerate care for Dale and the consideration to Elizabeth and her family.
