

Dr. Daniel Cervantes Fabito, 83, a resident of Las Vegas, NV, passed away peacefully Friday, April 25, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children at Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas.
He was the eldest son of the late Rufo and Rosario (Cervantes) Fabito. He leaves his beloved wife, Melinda of 57 years, his children Melissa Fabito Kelly of Las Vegas, NV; Daniel Marc Fabito and his wife Nedra of Oceanside, CA; and Daniel Everett Fabito and his wife Jessica of Las Vegas, NV. He was the proud grandfather “Lolo” of Nico, Mikayla, Madelyn, Rafa, and Felicity. He is also survived by his siblings Felipe Fabito, Armando Fabito (Thelma Fabito), and Ruperto Fabito. He was a beloved uncle, brother, cousin, and cherished friend to so many.
Born on January 28, 1942, in Santa Barbara, Pangasinan, Philippines. He graduated from Maramba National High School in 1957. He then went to college at Far Eastern University Arts and Sciences and graduated in 1959. He pursued medicine and graduated with his Doctor of Medicine degree from Far Eastern University (FEU) Medical School in 1964, where he met the love of his life, Melinda.
Daniel completed his Internship and General Surgery Residency at Evangelical Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1967. He married Melinda and then moved to St. Louis, Missouri to start his career and family. He completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Missouri-Missouri Baptist Medical Center in 1971 and his Fellowship in Vascular Surgery in 1973.
He began his private practice from 1973 to 2006 in St.Louis, specializing in General, Vascular, Trauma, and Bariatric Surgery. He was especially proud of his accomplishments in introducing “Fabito Gastric Stapling” in 1978.
Daniel was always involved with giving back to his community as a leader, educator, community builder, humanitarian, and philanthropist. He served as President of the Philippine Medical Association of Greater St. Louis 1974; President of the Association of Philippine Physicians in America 1980-81; President of the Society of Philippine Surgeons in America 1989-90; President of Far Eastern University Dr. Nicanor Reyes School of Medicine Alumni Foundation 1993-1996; Chairman of the Board of Far Eastern University Dr. Nicanor Reyes School of Medicine Alumni Foundation 1996-2000; and President of Philippine American Association of Nevada 2014-2024. Above all, he gave back to his country by leading over 55 Medical-Surgical Missions to the Philippines from 1981-2023.
He retired in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2007. However, after a year, he returned to work in a clinic that served the uninsured, underserved, and underinsured poor residents of Las Vegas. He fully retired in 2019.
In his spare time, he loved to play golf with his buddies, travel the world, and enjoy all that Las Vegas had to offer. He loved to see world-class shows, eat at the best Las Vegas buffets, but most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. We will always remember him for his kindness, generous nature, warm smile, and funny jokes.
Family will receive family and friends at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89113 on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 3-7 PM. Funeral Mass on Friday, May 16, 2025, 8:30 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 5830 Mesa Park Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89135. Interment on Friday, May 16, 2025, 11:00 AM at Palm Northwest Mortuary & Cemetery, 6701 N. Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Liver Cancer Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
