Danny Michael Patrick O'Leary was born in Independence, Kansas on November 30, 1947 to William and Myrtle O'Leary. He was the Youngest of 6 children. Throughout his youth Danny and his parents lived throughout the midwest and Texas. In 1968 Danny was living in California when he was drafted by the Army, he instead chose to enlist as a Marine and served honorably with distinction in Vietnam. He was promoted to Lance Corporal as a Forward Observer and received several medals for his participation in Operation Dewey Canyon. He was nominated for a Bronze Star for electing to bring up the rear and call in artillery close enough to thwart Vietnamese troop advancement after being surrounded in a "Horseshoe" trap. The Bronze Star would have required a longer stay in Vietnam so he accepted a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service medal with Combat V, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal. He was also offered a Purple Star but declined due to his injury being caused by tree shrapnel and not a gunshot. After Vietnam Danny moved to Las Vegas, NV. He married Myrna Whipple and had two sons, David and Glenn. He then remarried in 1986 to Rebecca Ann Nelson and had two sons, Jeffrey Adam, and John Casey and one daughter, Jennifer Skye. He worked as a Teamster Truck Driver and later as a realtor, but his family is what mattered most to him. He was the life of any party and the center of our world, he will be missed by so many. He was preceded in death by his father William, his mother Myrtle, his eldest son David, sisters Ellen Cunningham, and Mary Yeager, and his brothers, John T. (Jack), Timothy and James (Jim) O'Leary. He is survived by his loving wife Rebecca, his sons Glenn, Jeffrey, and John Casey, his daughter Skye, and his grandchildren Dylan and Logan O'Leary and Scarlett and Dawson Taylor.
Arrangements under the direction of Palm Southwest Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
