March 29, 1948 – June 17, 2020
Quick-witted, deeply caring, organized, and always willing to lend a hand. Those were just a few of the many ways to describe Deborah (Debby) Allen. Debby passed away following a short illness on June 17, 2020, surrounded by loving friends and family in Henderson, NV.
Debby was born March 29, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio. After growing up and spending her early adult years in the Midwest, she moved out west and spent more than 30 years in Arizona and Nevada. Her work as a respiratory therapist suited her nature as a helper – be it helping patients heal during the day or helping families and seniors in need as a volunteer for numerous charities.
When she wasn’t working, Debby kept busy traveling with her best friend Karen, trying new arts and crafts, spending time with friends, watching old reruns of Law & Order, and rearranging the living room. Upon her retirement, she also filled her days with volunteer work, which included spending time as a driver for Helping Hands of Vegas Valley.
Most people who knew her can no doubt share a story of a time that Debby helped them. From small, every day gestures to significant acts like opening her home to family and friends in need, Debby was always there. Debby epitomized a famous memory by TV’s Fred Rogers: "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'” Debby was one of those helpers.
Debby was preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Shirley Jones; and siblings Autumn and Jim Jones. She is survived by her children, Lisa Eisenbraun McGeehee, Tom Eisenbraun, Eric Allen, and Tony Allen; and her brother Bob Jones.
The family will hold a small, private memorial ceremony. Those wishing to make a donation in Debby’s memory are asked to consider Helping Hands of Vegas Valley or Nathan Adelson Hospice.
