May 27, 2008 – March 28, 2025
God sent a beautiful angel to Carlleen and Paul Baldon on May 27, 2008, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her name was Demia Devine Baldon, though everyone who loved her simply called her “Mia.” On March 28, 2025, our beloved Mia stepped across the threshold of what we call death, but for her, it was only a step into another room — into her Father’s house, where eternal peace and joy now greet her.
Mia was born with a rare condition called Holoprosencephaly. The doctors told us that her time with us would be brief — just 2 to 5 years, they said. But God had other plans. He allowed us the precious gift of 16 unforgettable years with “Our Angel” on earth, and in that time, she left an impact on more hearts than we could have ever imagined.
From the very beginning, Mia radiated a light that couldn’t be ignored. Though she was a special-needs child in the physical sense, her spirit knew no bounds. She didn’t need words to speak — Mia communicated with her eyes, and those who knew her best could read her every mood in a glance.
Her presence lit up every room she entered.
She was the heart of our family, our daily reminder of God’s grace, and a living testimony to the power of unconditional love.
Mia attended Palo Verde High School, where she was not just a student — she was a star. Her classmates, teachers, and community embraced her with open arms, and she, in turn, gave them her warmth, laughter, and sweetness. She was deeply loved and incredibly popular, a true favorite in every hallway and classroom she touched.
Letting Mia go to school for the first time was not easy. As her mother, Carlleen spent the first three months of preschool volunteering every day — sitting beside her, holding her hand, slowly learning to let go while trusting others to love and care for Mia just as fiercely. That trust would grow into lasting friendships and bonds with the educators and caregivers who became part of Mia’s extended family.
Though her condition came with limitations, Mia lived a full and adventurous life. She traveled to many beautiful places: Hawaii, San Diego, Anaheim, Miami, Pompano Beach, Fort Worth, Detroit, and Los Angeles. With each journey, she collected memories, laughter, and experiences that most would only dream of. Her courage and zest for life reminded us all to live in the moment and to cherish the smallest joys.
At home, she found happiness in simple pleasures — watching King of the Hill, American Dad, SpongeBob, Willie Wonka & Barbie, and sharing laughs with her siblings. Her laughter, her joy, and the way she lit up at her favorite shows were gifts that made our house a home.
Those who have gone before her and now welcome her with loving arms include her Aunt Donna Baldon, (grandparents) Samuel and Helen Baldon, and Uncles Benji, Romero Jackson, Samuel Baldon Skipper, George Baldon, and Dwayne Baldon.
She leaves behind her devoted parents, Carlleen and Paul Baldon, and her siblings Yavon, Yalanda, Paul Donald Jr., Deon, Devon, Darion, Destiny, and Deondra Baldon — each one carrying a piece of her spirit, her smile, and her light.
As we celebrate Mia’s life, we also wish to extend heartfelt gratitude to every teacher, nurse, family member, friend, and caregiver who stood with us in love and support. Your compassion, prayers, and care carried us through some of our most trying and triumphant moments. You were part of Mia’s village, and we are eternally thankful.
Though our hearts ache with her absence, we are comforted by the legacy she leaves behind — a legacy of perseverance, joy, laughter, and unshakable love. Mia taught us what it means to live courageously, to love deeply, and to shine in the face of adversity. Her life, though short in years, was long in purpose.
Let us carry Mia’s light forward in our own lives — in kindness to others, in love without condition, in laughter shared freely, and in moments embraced without hesitation. As we grieve, may we also find comfort in knowing that she now rests in perfect peace, whole and free in God’s eternal embrace.
A visitation for Demia will be held Friday, April 18, 2025 from 3-7PM at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113, where funeral service will begin at 11am on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18
Rest in heaven, beautiful Mia. Your light will never fade. You were truly God’s greatest gift.
