Obituary for Domingo Ruiz Jr. Domingo Ruiz Jr., age 64, passed away on December 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Born on August 30, 1961, in New York City to his parents Domingo Ruiz Sr. and Luz Martinez, Domingo’s life was filled with movement, adventure, and deep family roots. He spent part of his childhood in Puerto Rico before returning to the Bronx in 1972, where he grew up surrounded by culture, community, and the people who shaped him.
On October 7, 1989, Domingo married the love of his life, Ingrid Ruiz, beginning a beautiful union that lasted 36 years. Together, they built a life marked by loyalty, laughter, and shared dreams. Their journey took them from Queens, New York, to Kunkletown, Pennsylvania in 2001, and finally to Las Vegas, Nevada, where they settled in 2006 and created a home filled with warmth and welcome.
Domingo was a man who found joy in the things that brought people together. Sports were a lifelong passion, giving him friendships, excitement, and countless memories. He also delighted in the worlds of Star Trek and Godzilla, sharing his enthusiasm with anyone who would listen.
But above all, Domingo loved his family. He was the kind of man who showed up—steady, supportive, and ready to help however he could. His kindness was not loud; it was lived, day by day, in the way he cared for others. Anyone who visited him knew the comfort of his early morning hospitality. Domingo had a way of making people feel at home, greeting loved ones with the warm aroma of his coffee and a generosity that came straight from the heart. His presence made ordinary moments feel special.
Domingo is survived by his devoted wife, Ingrid Ruiz; his sister Sylvia Rivera; his sisters in law Vivian Villa ,brother in law Erwin Villa and Nydia Córdoba and his brother in law Pedro Córdoba ; his mother in law Esperanza Soto; and his beloved nieces Valerie Villa, Veronica Villa, Cynthia Martin and her husband Joshua Martin, Alannah Córdoba, and Alexis Córdoba. He also leaves behind his grand nephew & niece Jayson and Layla Castor who brought him joy and pride.
Those who worked alongside Domingo—his boss and colleagues who became true friends—knew the warmth and loyalty he carried into every relationship. That same love was reflected in the way he cared for his cherished dogs, Chiki and Lily.
As his family reflects on his life, they hold close the comforting words of scripture: Isaiah 12:2 “God indeed is my savior; I am confident and unafraid. My strength and my courage is the LORD, and he has been my savior. “ These words echo the faith, courage, and quiet strength Domingo carried throughout his life. Domingo’s life was a blessing to all who knew him.
His generosity, his humor, his love of family traditions, and his gentle spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. He will be dearly, deeply missed—but his memory will forever remain a source of gratitude and love.
