

She was born Dorothy May Limmer on February 25, 1919 in Baltimore, Maryland. She resided for 25 years in Brooklyn, New York, 21 years in Port Washington, New York, and 37 years in Escondido, California.
She was the widow of A. Gerard (Jerry) Ellertsen, a World War II veteran. They were married for 50 years until his death at age 75 in 1990.
She loved her family and had a highly active life which she enjoyed greatly, especially when swimming, playing golf, and playing bridge.
She is survived by three sons and their spouses: John (and Terry) Ellertsen, Robert (and Peg) Ellertsen, and James (and Diane) Ellertsen. Also six grandchildren, three with husbands: Joan (and Abe) Klein, Carol (and Van) Harvey, David Ellertsen, Karen Ellertsen, Nora Ellertsen (and Mike Robertshaw), and Ann Ellertsen. Also five great-grandchildren: Ryan Harvey, Aaron Klein, Zachary Klein, Chad Harvey, and Rachel Harvey.
Memorial gifts can be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association in Washington, D.C.
