Duane DeMay

Duane DeMay, 83, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on June 11, 2026. Born February 13, 1943, Duane’s life was marked by steady resolve, faithful service, and a genuine regard for the people around him. In quiet, consistent ways, he carried a sense of duty and an easy warmth that helped others feel seen, welcomed, and—more often than not—smiling.

Duane DeMay and twin brother Dennis entered Baptist Children's Home, Lakeland , FL in 1951. They left the Home in June of 1961.

In the summer 1961, Duane joined the Air Force at Nellis Air Force Base, in Las Vegas, NV. In 1962 Duane was selected from over hundreds of applicants, to become a member of the elite Air Force Thunderbirds. His specialty was ground power, servicing fighter jets on the flight line. The Thunderbirds traveled all over the world putting on air shows.

In 1966 Duane went to Florida State University and earned a Business degree, graduating in 1970. In 1971, Duane moved to Las Vegas and got a job with the City of Las Vegas in building code enforcement.

In 1985 he became a Parole and Probation Officer with State of Nevada, retiring in 1995. Married twice and had a son, Derek in 1980.

Duane was a big baseball fan. He loved eating lunch and dinners with friends and family. What he’ll most be remembered for is always making an effort to make you smile.
