Eddie was born on May 24, 1941 in Iba, Zambales, Philippines to Diomedes and Luz Alinea. He was the second child of five other siblings: Linda, Mina, Leo, Liwayway and Gilda.
He found the love of his life at the age of 18 in Consorcia “Ching” Malicdem. They married on June 12, 1966 when he was 26 years old in San Carlos, Pangasinan. They have five children: Gary, Elmer, Eugene, Caroline and Maricris, who all grew up in Olongapo City, Philippines.
Eddie attended a year of college at the University of the Philippines in Los Banos, Laguna. However, he opted to discontinue his education to help out his parents. He instead started working at the Subic Naval Base, Olongapo City. He started as a manual laborer and through 25 years of service, was promoted 11 times holding his last position as a Safety, Occupational and Health Specialist before the base closed down.
Eddie, his wife Ching and their daughter Maricris emigrated to the U. S. on April 1996. He, with his wife Ching, then endeavored to bring their remaining children to the U. S. by working two jobs as a Security Officer and Ramp Handler at the airport in Las Vegas, NV. No job was beneath Eddie and he took pride in his work because it was honest work. Saving money was paramount and he did not lose track of his goal to bring his entire family to the U. S. which he finally did on April 2007. All now live and work in Las Vegas, NV.
Eddie loved good food, particularly those cooked by his wife Ching, and spending time with his family. At a younger age, he played in basketball leagues, bowling leagues and was a practitioner of martial arts. He also loved the outdoors. He loved nature particularly the “boondocks” or the mountains, and planting trees.
Later in life, he devoted most if not all of his time with his family. Eddie was most content when surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, sisters and brothers and the rest of his relations. Their family gatherings, birthday celebrations and reunions brought great joy in his later years.
He is survived by his wife Ching; their children Gary, Elmer, Eugene, Caroline and Maricris; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at the Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church at 10:00 AM followed by Funeral Services from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Palm Eastern.
