Eduardo Jose Tuano Gonzalez

On September 1, 2026, Eduardo Jose “Sonny” Gonzalez was called home to Our Father’s loving arms in Heaven. Born in the Philippines on May 12, 1943, he was preceded in death by his mother, Corazon Tuano Gonzalez, his father, Jose Litonjua Gonzalez, and his brother, Bienvenido Gonzalez. He leaves behind his beloved immediate family: his wife, Grace, daughter Rosalie, son Joel, daughter-in-law Dara and grandson Liam. He is also survived by his brothers Jaime, Fred, and Jose Marie Gonzalez and their families.

He attended De La Salle University in Manila, where he played college basketball, graduating with high honors, and followed this achievement with an MBA from the prestigious Asian Institute of Management. Companies took note, and soon he was promoted to management with 3M Corporation(Asia Division). In 1976, he took his skillset along with an incredible leap of faith and uprooted his family to move over 7 thousand miles from all he knew. He landed in Las Vegas and worked diligently to establish an opportunity-filled life for himself and his family.

He created his own history by becoming one of the first Filipino agency owners with Allstate Insurance in Nevada. This entity still services the entire state of Nevada: the Gonzalez Family Agency. It is Sonny’s legacy and after 47 years stands as a testament to his commitment to honesty and customer service. He blazed his own path as he saw fit, backed by integrity, courage and intelligence. Those who knew him always mentioned his remarkable grasp of global current events, his incredible memory, and endearing sense of “dad” humor. He loved watching basketball and other sports, enjoyed an occasional round of singing karaoke, and loved to travel whether it was a far-flung destination or somewhere close to home.

He devoted his life to his family and friends. Many recent messages of condolence and memories all express the same sentiments; that Sonny lived his life to the fullest and made sure you felt cared for and loved by him. In the immortal words of Mr. Frank Sinatra, and a song which also happened to be one of Sonny’s favorite karaoke tunes to sing, Sonny could truly be said to have “Done it His Way.”

He will be greatly missed.
