

Eleuterio Lapa Tabares (Eleu) was born February 14th, 1942, in Calatrava, Negros Occidental, Philippines to Santiago Tabares and Vivencia Lapa. A meticulous man, he graduated from Grossmont College with and associate’s degree in respiratory therapy, and a BA in journalism from San Diego State.
He served as a Respiratory Therapist and managed the residency program for over 600 medical students and residents from Tulane and LSU Medical Schools for the VA hospital in New Orleans until his retirement in 2004. He was a proud Navy veteran who frequently attended naval and air events and photographed many of their subjects. He was passionate about nature and airplane photography, and country western dancing which he discovered while living in Augusta, GA. His favorite dance was always the Waltz.
He is survived by his two sons and their spouses William (Dan) and Oliver (Melissa), and his four siblings Wilfredo (Deborah), Nazarita, Feliciano, and Febian (James).
There will be a viewing for his friends to pay their last respects on Friday February 21st, 2025, from 5PM to 7PM at Palms Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113. Funeral services for family will be Saturday February 22nd, 2025, from 12noon to 1PM, also at Palms Southwest Mortuary. Graveside burial will be Monday February 24th, 2025, at 10:40AM at the Southwest Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr, Boulder City, NV 89005.
