

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Abigail S. Gallegos; his grandson, Diego Ezekiel Salazar; his father, Eliseo E. Gallegos, Sr.; his mother, Amelia Gallegos; and his sister, Aileen Barela.
Eliseo (aka Tuna & Eli) is survived by his wife, Irene Gallegos; son, Patricio D. Gallegos (Stephanie); grandchildren, Nevaeh, Nehemiah, Alithyia (God Daughter); son, Enrique J. Gallegos all of Espanola, NM; his daughter, Serena Mosqueda and husband Marco; grandchildren, Valerie and Anthony of Las Vegas, NV; God Son, Jacob Valdez; his brothers, Manuel Gallegos, Eloy Gallegos (JoAnn), Jerry Gallegos (Wanda) and Elizardo Gallegos; and all his precious nieces and nephews who he loved across the miles.
In his lifetime as he matured from child to adulthood, Eliseo accomplished so many things beginning with his ranch life, military life, transportation life to his retirement life. As he began each day, he was always greeted by his pets that his children entrusted him to service (Muffy, Lucy, Snuggles heavenly) and Fluffy. Eli not only was involved with his job and community volunteering, he always had time for a bit of humor as he took on his daily duties. Eli always greeted all persons with a smile and joke. Eli enjoyed ranching, fishing and hunting. Eli spent many summers learning the hardball talent that breathed from one generation to another that included his brothers Manny and Jerry directly from his father. It was many a day that he played in the heated up dry fields of Chamita and Velarde, NM.
In his military career, Tuna went from Army; 3631st Transportation (Espanola, NM) to Army Training as Instructor (Santa Fe); Master Sergeant duties in Roswell, NM that included Family Support Activities and Prison Riot Affairs.
Tuna also had a natural talent playing his right-hand guitar and singing, as well as playing billiard pool called (pool shark) at “Willie’s Pool Hall."
He attracted people all around him; it was not just adults it became young people. He was such an amazing man and had a big heart.
A visitation will be held at Palm Eastern Mortuary and Cemetery, Tuesday, July 27 from 5:00pm – 8:30pm. A Mass will be held at St. Viator’s Church, Friday, July 30 at 10:00am; followed by burial at 12:00 Noon at Palm Eastern Cemetery.
