Enrique Abedes Uy, 99, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on May 12, 2020 at St. Rose Hospital, Sierra Campus, while silently fighting his battles against COPD, a peptic ulcer, and cardiac and respiratory arrest.
He was born on November 29, 1920 in Sto. Nino, Cagayan, Philippines. He was married to Dionicion Areola, who resided at the same place, a childhood sweetheart.
They were blessed with five children: Regino, Joven, Evangeline, Zorayda and Elimer. He worked as a farmer and a skilled carpenter. He was a good provider to his family though he was widowed at the age of 46. He was ambitious to send his children to higher education and finished their bachelor’s degree in college.
He came over to the United States to live with his daughter, Zorayda. After a while, the other daughter arrived and stayed with him for several years during his retirement days.
Enrique loved gardening, landscaping, cooking and carpentry. He loved well-ironed clothes, wearing hats, reading the newspaper and singing aloud in his room. His favorite food was a peanut butter sandwich and a porridge with black beans, ham and noodles.
Enrique loved vacationing especially going home, back to the Philippines. He enjoyed much the company of his 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was cremated at Palm Mortuary in May 2020. There will be no funeral services due to the current “pandemic”.
Loved ones here are offering Novena prayers and Novena masses and in the Philippines.
