Eric Einsmann was born in New Hyde Park, New York on December 24, 1964 to Francis and Edith Einsmann. Eric lived in New York with his parents and siblings until they moved to Orlando, Florida at age 9. He attended Pershing Elementary and Boone High School in Orlando. As a teen and young adult, he worked for both Disney World and Universal Parks, as well as, helping out at Pine Castle Hardware store owned by his brother-in-law’s family. He eventually began working for Graybar Electric Supply. He faithfully worked for Graybar for 20 years until his retirement in 2020.
Eric loved to dance. He was known to clog dance and square dance. He later became a dedicated hula haumana (dance student) for Kumu Kawehi Punahele of Halau Hula Kaleooka’iwa for ten years, where he performed hula in Florida, including in the lobby of the Disney Polynesian Resort. Eric was given the Hawaiian name “Kahaku” by his Kumu.
Eric's love for dance led to a love of Hawaii and to his beautiful bride. During a special hula event held for the Polynesian Community in and around Orlando on Labor Day 2012, Eric met the love of his life, Mary Lynn Slawson. Eric often said he waited for her for 48 years. He knew right away she was the one. They were married on December 24, 2013, in a lovely beachside ceremony, where Eric and Mary Lynn incorporated their shared love of hula and God into their celebration. He recently retired from dancing, but could be found dancing alongside his lovely wife, Mary Lynn, at special events.
Eric also loved to work with his hands, creating items to bless others with his talents. From personalized keychains to Adirondack chairs. He was known to study and analyze a wooden piece of furniture, and after a time of contemplation, he would say “I could make that”.
Eric loved his family very much. He and Mary could be found visiting family members almost weekly in Florida, whether in the Orlando area or beachside. He also traveled with Mary to visit family in Crestview Florida, Las Vegas, Hawaii, and Virginia. He is survived by his wife Mary, his in-laws Theresa, Christina (Faiaai Jr), Senio (Jamie), father-in-law Steve, his brother and sisters, Frank (Joanne), Eileen (David), Ann, Edy, and Kay (Ron), nieces and nephews Sara, Joy, Jessica, Sierra, Stephenie, Sweetie, Tasi, Jadeane, Jayna, Carl, David, Chris, Stephan, Nathan, Jeremiah, Faiaai “JJ”, Stephen, Sa’i, Jonah, Justice, David Boy, Hunter and seventeen great nieces & nephews.
Eric was an active member of Discovery Church in Orlando, where he and Mary served as greeters for many Sunday mornings. He loved attending the weekly men’s breakfast at church. Through the off-season, he met regularly with the faith-full men of table 25. His willingness to serve led him onto 2 short term mission trips to the Dominican Republic, where he worked with other church members to support the local ministries.
Eric’s love for the Lord gave him a Spirit-filled, positive outlook on life that will be remembered by those with whom he shared his life. Eric was known to be gentle, kind and generous. He told his wife several times that he was not afraid to die. He said since his salvation is in Jesus, living he was with the Lord, dying he would be with the Lord. So, it was a win/win for him! He longed to hear the Words, "Well done good and faithful servant!" Eric passed unexpectedly on July 19th while on vacation with his family at the age of 59. We know he is eternally happy, now dancing for the Lord in Heaven.
A Celebration of Eric's Life is being held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 2:00 PM at:
