Eric Laurens Horn

Born September 23, 1946, in Alexandria, Pennsylvania, Eric graduated from Juniata Valley High School in 1964, received a BA degree from Susquehanna University and an MBA from the University of Southern California. He served as a Lieutenant JG in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.

He began his homebuilding career with Watt Companies in Southern California before joining Metropolitan Homes in Las Vegas. In 1986, he founded Horn Company Homes, where he focused on bringing affordable housing to the Las Vegas community. A member of the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association, Eric served on their board for many years. Affordable housing was Eric’s passion, and he was instrumental in bringing Habitat for Humanity to Las Vegas in 1991. More recently, Eric served on the board of Nevada HAND, the state’s leader in affordable housing solutions.

Eric, a loving husband, father and grandfather, was an avid traveler and especially enjoyed classical music, orchestral movie scores, military history, and USC football.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eileen Moninghoff Horn; sons Dennis Chisolm Horn and Brian Fitzgerald Horn; daughter-in-law Kim Kotfis Horn; grandchildren Emmett Walter Horn and Zachary Chisolm Horn; siblings John Chisolm Horn Jr, Thomas Wald Horn, and Dorothy Traill Horn; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Chisolm Horn and Solveig Wald Horn, and siblings Steven Lunde Horn, Robert Gregg Horn, James Melchior Horn, and Mary Phyllis Horn.

A Celebration of Life will be held August 20, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas. Eric’s ashes will be laid to rest in the Horn family plot in Alexandria, PA.
