

Eric J. Meyer, 67, a 34-year resident of Nevada, passed into his eternal life with God Jan. 29, 2012. Born Nov. 8, 1944 in New York City, Eric graduated high school in Connellsville, Pa. and received his bachelors and masters degrees in accounting and finance at California State University at Northridge. During his tour in Germany serving in the U.S. Army, Eric met and married Dixie F. Brewer. Upon their return to the U.S., Eric worked as a margin clerk at Hornblower Weeks, a national stock brokerage firm. During his subsequent career in finance, Eric was treasurer and chief financial officer (CFO) of Victory Savings and Loan in North Hollywood, Ca.; audit engagement manager with Arthur Andersen and Co.; vice president of finance and chief financial officer of the MGM Grand Hotel, Reno; executive vice president and chief operating officer of Jackpot Enterprises. In 1989, along with his son, Jason, Eric opened Executive Car & Home Audio (ECA) which they operated together until 2001. In 1996, Eric moved into a new chapter in his life with wife, Lauran, and they had 14 wonderful years together, gardening and most recently enjoying their new grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin O. Meyer and Margaret Solomon Meyer. He is survived by his wife, Lauran Meyer; son, Jason Meyer; sister, Carol Oveross; daughter-in-law, Renee Meyer; grandchildren, Hunter, Josh, Brittany and Dustin; the families of nieces Kristi (Todd) Daugherty and Lara (Whit) Clements; Dixie Meyer and dozens of dear friends. Viewing will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to ALS of Nevada (a statewide agency providing free services to men and women living in Nevada with Lou Gehrig's Disease), 888 W.
