Erlinda Recania passed away on August 20, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, friendship, and nearly five decades of marriage.
Erlinda was born on February 12, 1947, in Manila, Pasay City, Philippines, to Florencio Caceres and Catalina Canuto.
Her love story with her husband, Richard "Rick", began in Tacoma, Washington, in a way neither of them could have predicted. What was originally supposed to be a double date arranged by a mutual friend unexpectedly became a true blind date after their friends got into an argument and left the two of them together. As fate would have it, that unexpected evening marked the beginning of a love story that would last a lifetime.
Rick and Erlinda married on November 3, 1976, at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas. Twenty-five years later, they returned to renew their vows and were incredibly fortunate to have the same person who married them the first time officiate their vow renewal. This November would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary.
In July 2007, Erlinda and Rick made Las Vegas their home. Together, they built a life centered around family and shared many wonderful memories with their son, Michael, and daughter, Naomi.
Erlinda had a passion for ballroom dancing and loved the joy and elegance of being on the dance floor. She was also an excellent golfer and took particular delight in beating Rick on the course, something she managed to do many times. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, gathering with friends, and, most of all, spending time with the people she loved.
Erlinda will be remembered for the life she shared with those around her, the friendships she treasured, and the love and devotion she gave to her family. Her nearly 50 year marriage to Rick stands as a beautiful testament to a chance meeting that became a lifetime of love.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Rick; her son, Michael; her daughter, Naomi; her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
