

Eugene Wesley Eads, 70, a longtime resident of Boulder City and Henderson, passed away on August 27th, 2014 at St. Rose Siena Hospital. He was born January 24, 1944 in Grovertown, Indiana to Elvin and Sylvia Eads. Gene was a graduate of Plymouth High School, Plymouth, Indiana in 1962. He then joined the United States Air Force and served from 1962 to 1966. He was stationed at Elgin Air Force Base in Pensacola, Florida and RAF Alconbury in Huntingdon, England. Eugene found his soul mate and partner for life in September of 1968, and then married Linda Rae Sickmiller on November 22, 1969 in South Bend, Indiana. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he began an almost forty-year career in the freight industry. He began as a sorter, progressed to a driver, and was then promoted to manager. He worked for UPS, Bestway, and Motor Cargo. Gene retired in 2002. Gene and his family moved from Indiana to Lake Havasu City, Arizona in 1978. They lived there until 1982, and then moved to Nevada. Gene had a love for music, learning to playing guitar and sharing his eclectic taste in music. He also had an affinity for the outdoors. He took every opportunity to go camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, barbequing, being one with God’s creatures and searching for Native American relics. He loved spending time with his family and friends around a game of cards, laughing at jokes, or reminiscing. Gene’s spirit and mischievous laughter were infectious. Gene was a member of The Indiana Archaeological Society, The American Legion, and was awarded the Elks Lodge Lifetime Membership. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years; his son Kirk, daughter-in-law Lori, and their children Kaitlin and Payton of Nevada; his daughter Kelly, son-in-law Matt, and their son Weaver of New Jersey; and his sister, Vickie Eads Finkenbiner. He was preceded in death by his sister Cindy Zimmerman, brother Arlis Eads, sister Wilma Eads Burk, sister Connie Eads Gardner, and his parents Elvin and Sylvia Eads. Visitation service will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014 at Palm Eastern Mortuary and Cemetery, 7600 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada. Funeral and burial service will be held at 12:00 at Boulder City Veterans Cemetery on 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, Nevada. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Wounded Warriors of Nevada in Eugene's name.
