I love you so much grandma and I think about you everyday. I miss you in a way that is changing me and I’ll never be the same without you.
Until we meet again grandma 💔😰
Evelyn Ulane Ford was born on June 19, 1936 at Malulani Hospital in Wailuku, Maui to Frank and Ramona Gomes. She was raised in Wailuku with her six sisters, Lottie, Alexandria, Ramona, Clarita, Linda; and three brothers, Louis, Frank, and Antone. All throughout her life, Evelyn was the kind of person who drew people in with her kind heart and loving personality.
On December 31, 1981 Evelyn exchanged wedding vows with Charles Edward Ford at Vernon Parish in Leesville, Louisiana. She was blessed with two sons, Adam and John; and five daughters, Linda, Jeannie, Lori, Robin, and Michelle. Evelyn took motherhood in her stride, and was devoted to her family and loved being a mother and grandmother. She was blessed with 32 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren. Evelyn also loved her pets, and her family was rounded out by her Shih Tzu, Max, and her American Bully, Polly.
For work, Evelyn was employed with Ogden Aviation for 11 years, and was also a housewife. Whenever she wasn’t working, she enjoyed playing bingo and slot machines, and going to garage sales. She was also a fan of watching her grandsons play football and baseball. She liked to travel and take vacations, and liked coming out to Las Vegas, Nevada, and when her retirement finally arrived in August 2015, she relocated to live in Las Vegas.
Evelyn made close friends in her adulthood, including Francis Agosto, Belinda, and Vi Worley. Like everyone in her life, they were drawn to her light and the love that shone through. She was strong in her faith, and was a devout Catholic. She was a member of Wahiawa's Our Lady of Sorrows for 40+ years.
Evelyn passed away peacefully on March 12, 2021 at Dignity Health St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, Nevada. She is survived by her seven children, Linda, Jeannie, Adam, Lori, Robin, John, and Michelle; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services were held at Palm Southwest Mortuary. Evelyn was laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific – known as the Punchbowl – in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Simply stated, Evelyn was a good and kind person. She loved her family deeply and was caring and giving to everyone in her life. She leaves behind a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Evelyn Ulane Ford.
