Evelyn Joyce Dedrick Sibley was born to Howard and Bessie Dedrick, August 2, 1939 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her siblings are sisters, Alien Dedrick Hollingsworth, Carolyn Dedrick Kelley, Claudette Dedrick Powell, and her brother Carl Dedrick.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age. She sang in the church choir and was a soloist. The Dedrick family relocated to Marin City (Sausalito), California in her pre-teen years. Evelyn was a high school student at Tamalpais High School, when she met Tom Sibley who was in the Air Force. He was visiting his sister, Wilma Sue Hall, who resided in Marin City, California with her family. When she graduated in spring 1958, Tom asked her to marry him. Evelyn said, “Yes.” Tom and Evelyn were married on April 6, 1958, at First Missionary Baptist Church. Tom was stationed at Hamilton AFB, where we lived in based housing for a while. Tom was deployed to Korea and Thailand. Upon return to the states, he was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. The Sibley Family, Tom, Evelyn, and their children in birth order: LaVonne Sibley, Tami Sibley Wilburn, and Anthony Sibley, relocated to Las Vegas, NV in 1969. Evelyn began working at the Las Vegas Credit Bureau, and then she went to work for Valley Hospital. She worked at Valley Hospital until her retirement.
Evelyn served in ministry as a Deaconess, Choir Director, Soloist, Choir Member, and Church Mother to many. Mother Sibley mentored young woman and was an example of class and elegance.
Evelyn Joyce Dedrick Sibley was called Home by God on April 7, 2018 at 2:26pm, after a 7-day stay at Spring Mountain Hospital.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Bessie Dedrick.
She celebrated 60 years of Holy Matrimony to Tom Sibley, who will cherish her memory along with the rest of her family: daughter LaVonne Sibley (Resting in Peace); daughter Tami Sibley Wilburn (Johnny); son Anthony Sibley (Debbie); grandchildren: Shelby Wilburn, Brandon Sibley, Bianca Wilburn, and Lauryn Wilburn; great-granddaughter Faith Arnette Sibley; and a host of family, friends, and church family.
