Evy Hannelius

Evy Hannelius, 85, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on December 30, 2015. Born August 14, 1930 in Stockholm, Sweden. Evy married Uno Hannelius, the love of her life in 1953. Together, as newlyweds, they immigrated to the United States and settled originally in California. Evy enjoyed raising her children and working. In 1992 she retired from the Veterans Administration and moved to Las Vegas with her husband. She became an active member of the local Democratic Party, worked as a Senior Advocate and participated in NARFE. She never forgot her Swedish roots and deeply enjoyed her friends in the VASA and SWEA Swedish organizations. She also loved to spend time with the women of the Red Hats Society and was an active member of Reformation Lutheran Church. She is survived by her son Eric Hannelius (wife: Karla Knight), and her daughter Karen Hannelius (husband: John Garner). She had four grandchildren: Lindsay Sears, Genevieve Hannelius, Zachary and Lauren Garner. Donations can be made to Reformation Lutheran Church or Shade Tree Shelter in her honor. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Reformation Lutheran Church 580 E St Louis Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89104.
