

Filomeno "Joe" Gamboa, 79, of Las Vegas, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully, Friday, November 23, 2012, at Solari Hospice Care in Las Vegas. He was born May 2, 1933 in the Philippines to the late Eugenio and Villanueva Gamboa.
After graduating high school in the Philippines, Joe dedicated his life to learning the art of Culinary Cuisine. He attended several culinary schools in the Philippines and received awards for his culinary acumen. Seeking greater challenges to his culinary skills, Filomeno moved to Alaska where he was the Head Chef at a seafood cannery. At the age of 50, Joe married his soul mate and life partner, Guadalupe Rocili, while working in Alaska. In 1980, Joe and Guadalupe moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to pursue additional career opportunities. He worked as a chef at Bally's Casino for 10 years and the Castaways Casino for over 12 years. He was a life-long member of the Culinary Union.
Mr. Gamboa is survived by his wife, Guadalupe of Las Vegas; son, Roberto; daughters, Elda and Jovy; three sisters - all living in the Philippines; numerous in-laws; nieces; and nephews.
