
Frances Adelaide “Addie” West, age 80, passed away on February 13, 2015. Addie was born on January 2, 1935 to the late Carl Quentin Williams, Sr. and Josephine Rogers in Oklahoma. She graduated from North Texas State College in 1956 with a B.S. in Education and went on to receive her Masters of Science from Oklahoma State University. Addie moved to Las Vegas and taught in the Clark County School District for 37 years. She taught every level from Head Start to 6th grade incorporating her love of music in to the classroom. She often spent her own money on her classroom so her students could have diversified activities such as square dancing, jump ropes, tinkling sticks, and rhythm band. Addie enjoyed competitive bridge, playing until she earned her Bronze Life Masters. In retirement she played competitive tennis earning many tournament trophies. She enjoyed cruising visiting Budapest, Amsterdam, Rio de Janeiro, the Amazon, Hawaii and Alaska. Addie was preceded in death by her husband Bill West; her parents; and her brother Carl Williams Jr. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Mary Jo Richards (Oklahoma), Paul Williams (Virginia), Jim Williams (Wisconsin), Amy Williams (California), and Sara Edge (Washington). They all have fond memories of Aunt Addie and Uncle Bill visiting Colorado each summer as they were growing up. They would play guitar, sing songs, go fishing and play cards. Addie will be interned at her beloved Community Lutheran Church on 3720 East Tropicana Avenue at a later date. Please feel free to give to any charity of your choice in Addie’s name.
