Frank was born and grew up in Los Angeles, CA. He was always an excellent athlete and upon graduating from Covina High School, he earned a full four-year basketball scholarship to the University of Hawaii and Washington State University where he was a business major. He also served as a Medical Specialist in the US Army Reserve. His great gift of gab and undeniable charm soon landed him salesman position with companies that manufactured and sold building materials to roofing, insulation and drywall contractors. In 1968 he was offered the opportunity to move to Las Vegas to purchase and become co-owner of Roberts Roof and Floor, Inc., one of the oldest companies established in 1928 in the State of Nevada, which is still actively operating today. Frank remained as co-owner, involved in the daily operations and management of the Roofing Department as well as the company itself, until his so-called retirement at the end of 2016. Over the years, his business acumen led him to become a developer of office and warehouse properties, the management of which kept him busy up until his death. In 1972, he became a member of Los Rancheros Vistadores equestrian organization, joining the Los Paisanos Camp, where he participated in their traditional annual trek through the Santa Ynez Valley each spring, along with lifelong friends made over 49 years. Frank was a youth basketball coach for the Boys and Girls Club, and a longtime supporter of UNLV Athletics, providing scholarships to UNLV for many years. He organized charity golf tournaments for the Variety Club and Kidney Foundation. As a member of Zelzah Shriners, he was involved with the fundraising for the Shriners Crippled Children’s Hospital. Frank served as past president of the Desert Inn Country Club and was a member of the Las Vegas Country Club. He was past president of the So. Nevada Roofing Contractors Association, the Hualapai Club of Las Vegas, and a past director of the NV State Golf Association. Aside from all these things, he was a kind and generous man – a good man – who always took care of his family. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Alice Reed and brother Walter. He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Marilyn, his children Wendi, Frank (Ellie), Jason (Rachel) and Julie, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
