

Gary graduated from Kearney, Nebraska High School in the class of 1962. He began his media career as a reporter in Chicago while serving in the Army Reserves. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1971, initially working as a reporter and noon weather anchor on KORK-TV. In 1990 he joined KLAS-TV Channel 8 where he served as news anchor for the next 32 years.
Gary was an only child and was predeceased by both parents. In retirement, Gary enjoyed motorcycles, cars, road trips, the New York Times crossword puzzle, and Jeopardy.
A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 11 a.m. In-person attendance at the service will be private, but it will be available live to the public on Zoom link at https://webcasting.cashmanpro.com/pm/watchliveevent.cfm?eventID=206279.
Gary’s ashes will be interred at Palm Eastern Mortuary and Cemetery in a granite bench that will be placed under a shade tree at his parents’ gravesite.
