Gavina Ramirez Sabala

It is with profound sadness that we announce that our mother, Gavina “Gabby” Sabala, passed away on August 1, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada at 94 years of age. She was born and raised in Brawley, California, the eldest of 8 children. Gavina was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia over 10 years ago but her long-term memory remained intact and she never forgot any of her family or friends. She would share stories with new friends she met about growing up in Imperial Valley. She was preceded in death by her spouse of 70 years, Guadalupe, Sr., in 2020 and son, Lupe Jr. in 2013. Gavina is survived by daughters Grace Inouye (Barry) and Mary B. Hon (Ted) of Nevada, and grandsons Matthew Inouye, Keone Hon (Eunice) and Kimo Hon. She is also survived by four brothers and numerous nephews and nieces. Services in Brawley for Gavina and husband Guadalupe are pending and will be announced at a later date. The family wishes to thank Avenir Memory Care facility and staff for the loving care she received while there, and also to Compassion Care Hospice of Las Vegas for their supportive care.
