George B. Handy

George B. Handy, 93, of Goodsprings, NV passed away July 19, 2017. He was born June 22, 1924 in Stuart, VA and moved to Nevada in 1952 where he resided in Jean and worked with his sister’s family at Pop’s Oasis until retiring in 1986. He had moved to Goodsprings by this time and was well known there, especially for his friendly wave from the front porch or a kind offer of a peppermint or butterscotch candy which was always available from his front pocket. George served in the US Army with the 668 Topographic Engineers during WWII, “The Greatest Generation”. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, eight brothers & sisters, and a great-grandson, Steven. He is survived by three daughters Gloria Maxwell, Debra Taylor, and Bonnie Lloyd; eight grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. We will celebrate his life Sunday, July 30 at 11 a.m. with reception to follow at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 West Warm Springs Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89113 to share memories of this great man’s legacy.
