

We announce with deep sorrow the passing of our cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and dear friend, George Kaperonis. Originally from Athens, Greece — longtime resident of Yonkers, NY. Passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2nd, at the age of 90. Preceded in death by his beloved son, Efstathios Kaperonis
A funeral service honoring his life will be held on Wednesday, August 13th at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church,10 Mill Road, New Rochelle, NY 10804
Visitation will take place at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed immediately by the funeral ceremony.
He is survived by, his devoted wife, Anna Kaperonis, his daughter, Tina Kaperonis, and son-in-law, Joseph Bernasconi, his loving grandchildren, George, Lauren, and James, as well as extended family and many friends in both the United States and Greece.

George Kaperonis immigrated to New York at the age of 23, carrying little more than ambition, discipline, and a fierce work ethic. Over time, he rose to become a pillar of the restaurant industry, building a legacy through passion and perseverance. For over 56 years, he proudly owned and operated the renowned Riverdale Diner, which became a gathering place for countless families and friends.
Beyond business, George was a man of heart. A tireless supporter of his community, he gave generously to those in need and never turned away anyone seeking help. His kindness, integrity, and unwavering dedication to family made him a true role model.
He was the heart of his household, a loyal husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather, and a friend to all.
His presence will be deeply missed. His memory will forever live on in the lives he touched.
