George W. Phillips, 95, of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014. He was born April 19, 1919 to George W. and Marguerite Phillips and lived his entire life in Las Vegas, Nevada. George graduated from Las Vegas High School and served during World War II in the Army Air Corps as a B-24 captain in Italy. He was a retired owner/operator of an air conditioning company in Las Vegas and was a devoted father. He loved Las Vegas, the southwest desert, and is well-known for his deadpan humor. George was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Marjory Gusewelle, the mother of their two children. She passed away in 1978. He later married Vivian Coordt who passed away in 2005. George is survived by son George (Judy); daughter Lynne (Bruce); grand children Justin (Jody), Joseph, Michael (Dawn), Katherine (Adam); and great-grandchildren Will, Caitlyn, and Alexa. A service to celebrate George’s life will be held Friday, June 6, 1 p.m. at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones (at the corner of Jones and Oakey) in Las Vegas, NV. 89146.
