Geraldine Franklin was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 10, 1935 to the late Mabel Camp. Geraldine accepted Christ at New Zion Baptist Church, New Orleans, LA, and was baptized at an early age by Rev. Dr. A.L. Davis Jr. She graduated from Walter L. Cohn High School, class of 1952.
Geraldine relocated with family members who migrated to the far west. The Camp Family of three brothers and one sister moved to San Francisco, California, while leaving behind two sisters and two brothers.
In San Francisco, the Camp family united with the Third Baptist Church where Geraldine served as an active member of the choir.
Geraldine was an avid sports fan. Even though she loved all sports, her all-time favorite was football, the San Francisco 49ers, in which she became a season ticket holder from 1980 to 2005. She also LOVED to dance.
Geraldine was an ambitious woman who loved being with family and friends. She obtained an Associate Degree from San Francisco City College. In 1957-58, Geraldine united in Holy Matrimony with David Franklin, Sr. To this union, two children were born David Franklin, Jr. and Roxanne Marie. She later birthed a third child, Hiram Cesar.
Geraldine’s professional career began as a telephone operator with the Pacific Bell Telephone Company. She later worked for the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency; then as a GS-16 with the Department of Housing and Urban Development. At HUD, she was responsible for all of Northern California, the state of Nevada, the state of Hawaii and Guam. After an early retirement from the Federal Government, Geri decided to relocate in 1988-1989 to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Being the workaholic as she was, Geri went back into the workforce in 1993, when Las Vegas was the fastest growing city in America. Geri became one of the most proficient Realtors in the market receiving Awards from Better Homes & Garden and The Medallion Club/Multi- Million Dollar Sales.
Geraldine, G-Ma, Geri is survived by her two sons David Joseph Franklin and Hiram Caesar Franklin and one daughter, Roxanna Marie Robinson all from Las Vegas, Nevada; G-Ma leaves seven grandchildren Ashley, Alexis, Julian, David III, Dallas, Aeryn, and Taylor; one great-grandson Amair; and her loving family brother Rev. Thaddeus Wallace Camp.
She leaves other family members and "Special" Friends: Iris Lane, Elsie Green, Jacqueline "Woody" Woods, Kenneth Hawkins, Sheilla Bernard, Sonja Jefferson, Claudia Lovett and Melinda Harrison, and a host of others.
