Dr. Gideon “Ging” Agaton, Sr. died peacefully on Saturday, July 24th after a long battle with heart disease and cancer. Gideon was born in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, Philippines on October 24, 1946, to the late Leon Agaton and Gregoria Cabreros Agaton. After high school in Nueva Ecija, he went to Manila where he pursued medicine at the FEU-NRMF and completed his medical degree in 1973. Gideon finished his residency at the Makati Medical Center where he would later on meet his future wife, Bernardina, who was a nurse at the same hospital. After getting married to his wife, Gideon moved out of the city and lived in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur where he widely practiced as a family doctor and general surgeon. A little after he moved he discovered he had a penchant for helping people so he ran for public office. Between being a councilman, running his own private practice, and also working for a local hospital, it was not long enough for people to notice how truly he was dedicated to his profession and how dearly he was loved by the people. Gideon led a very successful life as a municipal doctor and a local politician but he had to give that all up when he migrated to the United States with his family. Gideon was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leon Jr., Reuben, Ephraim, and sister Caridad. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bernardina, children Aubrey, Abigail, Gideon Jr., Arlene & Jayson. His extended family include children-in-laws Andrew, Ryan, Abegail, Travis, Jarek, and grandchildren Haile, Rafael, Trent, Arianna, Cyprian, Zane, Ellie, and Gianna. He also left behind many nieces and nephews. Gideon was a friend to all. More than anything, Gideon loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. He was a loving husband and very proud to have raised five children who gave him 8 beautiful grandchildren. Gideon treasured his time with his grandchildren. He passes along his strong work ethic and his love of family to them. He was funny, loving, humble, and friendly to anyone he meets. Gideon loved to sing in his beautiful bass voice, a characteristic some of his children inherited. He enjoyed watching sports and read a lot on his pastime which contributed to his passion for geography. While Gideon will be missed greatly by his family, we take solace in knowing that he is in Heaven reunited with his parents, siblings and all the departed ones. Visitation and reception will be held on Tuesday, July 27th, 1-5pm at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd. Las Vegas NV 89113. Funeral will proceed at the same location, at 5pm.
