With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Glenn Maxime Reico, a beloved father, devoted partner, cherished brother, and loyal friend. Glenn left this world unexpectedly on April 24, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, so much laughter, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Glenn was born on June 30, 1966, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and grew up as a young boy in Northern Manitoba, and later in North Kildonan. In 1991, Glenn enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces and served as a Corporal. He was an avionics technician for Hercules aircraft with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Glenn finished a career of 20+ years with the RCAF, and then found fulfillment in what he called his “dream job” with Bell MTS, watching TV channels on overnight shifts, where he worked until his retirement at the age of 55.
In 2000, Glenn found his match and married his love, Colleen Kachur. Together, they shared 15 wonderful years, building their dream home, raising their son, and making milestone memories. Tragically, Colleen's passing in 2015 left a void in Glenn's heart, but he continued to carry her memory with him always.
Glenn's proudest accomplishments were his children, Madison and Ben. He was a loving father who took immense joy in raising his kids and being an active part of their lives. Whether it was cheering them on, embracing their spontaneous hobbies as his own, or offering the answers to their endless questions via text messages, Glenn's love knew no bounds.
Glenn's passions were as vast as his heart. He was a talented chef who delighted in preparing delicious meals for his loved ones. He had a knack for projects, often spending his free time customizing jeeps and cars with extravagant features. Some projects were perpetually worked on, never to be completed. He enjoyed long walks at the floodway with his faithful companion, his dog Chester. Throughout his life he kept his friend circle small but incredibly tight, taking many trips with his longtime best friend Bill Stamper, and wife Tracey.
In 2021, Glenn found renewed happiness in his relationship with Joyce Burneau. This new love brought joy and adventure into Glenn's life and he cherished every moment spent with his “lady friend.” Glenn became so happy his family couldn't help but notice his newfound glow.
Glenn's presence lit up every room he entered, and his ever-present laughter was infectious. He will be deeply missed by his partner Joyce; his children Madison (Rebecca) and Ben; brother Sean (Lisa); brother-in-law Dean (Valerie); nieces Devin, Halle, and Chloe, nephew Destyn; and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is now reunited with his parents, Norman and June Reico, and wife Colleen Kachur-Reico.
In his final years, Glenn lived by the words of a quote that resonated deeply with him, which he kept on his phone screen as a reminder:
“Life is too short to wake up with regrets, so love the people who treat you right. Forget about those who don’t believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. Nobody said that life would be easy, they just promised it would most likely be worth it.”
These words served as a reminder to live life to the fullest. He spent his final days truly embracing the love and joy around him.
At the request of the family, a private service will be held at a later date.
Rest in peace, Glenn. Your memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know you.
