Grace Walker, 83, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on Saturday, June 6th, 2026, shortly after 6 pm, following a difficult battle with lung cancer. Her daughter, Jenny Britt Fowler, was by her side, and in her final days she was attended by visiting family, friends, and a host of kind medical caregivers.
Grace was born in Memphis, TN and grew up in Alexandria, Louisiana, the oldest of eight children. From an early age she took on a caregiving role, developing strength and perseverance and demonstrating a natural gift for management. These qualities endured throughout her lifetime.
Grace attended Florida College in Temple Terrace, FL where she met and married Dr. Larry Britt settling down in Auburn, AL as Larry attended veterinary school. They had two children, Jenny and Ron. Grace was an incredible mother, raising the children largely alone, while working as an administrative assistant. After her marriage ended, she met and married Forrest Johnson which led to a move from Alabama to Massillon, OH. Grace enjoyed a full and active life in Ohio for 20 years, where she and her husband founded a successful medical billing company, and she pursued many hobbies, including golf, bowling, and boating. Grace was also a very creative, talented seamstress, crocheter, and more. She was well known for her amazing cooking, she delighted in showing hospitality that made family and friends feel like special guests. Next, life led Grace to Las Vegas, NV, where she lived for 30 years. During that time, her second husband passed away. Then she was blessed to meet her third husband, Michael Sullivan, in Las Vegas. She retired with Michael, enjoying their home, family, friends, and traveling until he passed away. Her time in Las Vegas had been such a happy time of life, she chose to remain in their home till the end of her life on earth.
Grace loved her routines. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, rising each morning to have her coffee and meticulously read her newspapers at the kitchen table, while admiring the hummingbirds who came to visit her feeders. She was an avid reader of many topics. She stayed well informed and was “sharp as a tack” to the end.
Grace was a generous soul, a dedicated caregiver. She was devoted to and cared for her husband (Michael) and son (Ron) in their respective final days, making sure they were well looked after, had everything they needed, and remained by their side throughout.
Grace provided a supportive listening ear for her loved ones in low times and shared their joy in happy times – she was always just a call away. She loved putting together and sending “Care Packages” and cards to family and friends around the country. Grace had an unforgettable smile – She lit up a room with that smile – A beautiful, kind, loving, selfless lady.
Grace is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Sullivan, and her son, Ron Britt.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Jenny Britt Fowler (David), her granddaughters, Amanda Grace Fowler (Richard), Katie Fowler Harwell (Mackey), her great-grandchildren, Holly Virginia Harwell and David Reed Harwell, and siblings, Helen Ikerd, Raye Lakey (Paul), Raymond Walker (Nancy), Aubrey Walker, James Walker, Raynal Walker, and Anita Walker. Special thanks to the neighbors, family, and friends who helped Grace immensely near the end of her life and after losing her husband (Michael) and son (Ron) – Grace was blessed beyond measure by these loved ones and friends: her stepson, Kevin Sullivan and his wife Kathy, sisters, Helen Ikerd and Raye Lakey, Ken Allie, Dawn & Sam Benham, and Rick & Kim Wallace.
