

Hector Hipolito, 74, a 22-year resident of the Las Vegas area, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren on September 30, 2017, after a bravely fought battle with Alzheimer's.
Hector was born June 16, 1943 in Manila, Philippines to Fernando and Sofronia Hipolito. He found the love of his life at age 27, when he married Adelaida Hipolito of Bataan, Philippines.
Hector received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree from University of Santo Tomas in 1965. While in college, he was a star basketball player for the UST basketball team, and continued his carrier as a professional basketball player for Ysmael Steel in the late 1960's, and Yutibo team in the 1970's.
After his professional career in basketball ended, he continued his love for basketball as a coach for the Sunrise Milmore Commercial Basketball Team. He also worked for General Motor Philippines in the early 1980's. After the plant closed, he returned to coaching as a High School varsity coach for his alma mater UST from 1986-1989. He then was promoted as the assistant college varsity coach for the UST basketball team. He continued his career as the head coach for the Adamson University High school varsity team leading them to an unprecedented 5 consecutive championships. In the early 90's, he became the head coach for the college basketball team for Adamson University, leading them to be in the final four each year.
In 1995, Hector moved to Las Vegas with his family, and lived here ever since.
Hector loved all kinds of sports, enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Adelaida; son Gerry; daughters Rowena and Anne; along with his 3 grandchildren...all of whom live in Las Vegas, and brought love and joy in his later years.
