Herlinda Caroline Cortez

Linda was born on May 3, 1947 in Los Angeles, California to Samuel and Inez Ortiz. She grew up in Downey, California where she lived with her parents and younger brother, Ron Ortiz.

During her senior year at Warren High School she met Rudy Cortez, the boy who would become her husband, best friend and eternal soul mate. After an 11-month courtship, Linda became Mrs. Rudy Cortez on February 12, 1966. Four years later on February 5, 1970 she gave birth to their first and only child, Rhonda Pauline Cortez. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Rudy Cortez; daughter Rhonda Case; son-in–law Jeff Case; and her five grandchildren: Samantha (18), Brandon (16), Aaron (11), Meghan (9), and Melissa (9).

Linda dedicated 42 years to being a wife, mother, homemaker and eventually grandmother. She loved her family with all her heart, especially her five grandchildren who were the loves of her life. Linda enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved to joke and laugh and make people smile. We will miss her crazy stories, her silly jokes, but most of all her warm and loving spirit.
