

Herman George Seals was born July 22, 1940 in Houston, Texas to LeVanne Seals and Nola Mae George. Shortly after, by age 2, he was raised by his grandparents in Dayton, Texas. Herman went to school in Dayton, Texas. He played football in his junior and senior year in high school before graduating in 1958. While living with his grandparents, Herman was always active and getting into something to keep himself busy…like doing chores around the house and working in the fields, and he even sold candy. Herman loved dancing.
Soon, after graduating from High School, Herman enlisted in the Navy and traveled the world and learned many trades. In September of 1961, just two years in the Navy, Herman married Betty Seals, also from Dayton, Texas. Herman and Betty lived in many states before settling down in California. Soon, their first born Gregory was born, then Crystal, and lastly Valerie. Herman was a family man and believed in keeping his family close. Although, Herman was a very serious man, he was also funny, told a lot of jokes, enjoyed taking his family on outings, family road trips, played blackjack 21 and dominoes, and enjoyed music...favorites (Lou Rawls, Bobby "Blue" Bland, The Dells) and watched football all the time (the Dallas Cowboys was his favorite team). Herman had a car hobby which he bought/had old cars and fixed them up and drove them around.
Herman registered in the Reserves in 1963-1965. While living in Los Angeles, California Herman attended L.A. Southwest College and Long Beach City College. During his young life, his employment history is as follows: Aerospace employee at Harvey Aluminum, Aeronca Mfg. Co. In 1972, Herman applied for a Youth Authority job in the Correctional Department. He was hired as a temporary parole agent for 1 ½ years and permanently assigned Group Supervisor in 1973. He also became a Youth Counselor in 1975-1987, Supervisor Counselor in 1987-1989, and a Parole Agent in 1989-1992. Herman received many certificates which reflected job accomplishments during his work career. Herman received many certificates throughout his years as a Youth Counselor and Parole Agent from 1973 - 1992. Herman retired respectfully on August 6, 1992 from the Correctional Department years before retirement age.
Herman and Betty Seals moved to Las Vegas, NV in March 1993 to enjoy their newly built dream home and to enjoy their retirement. Herman and Betty traveled at their leisure visiting family and friends, going to concert shows, frequented casinos, and community events.
Even though, Herman was retired, he also worked in Las Vegas, NV for about 10 years in retail. Herman was a hard worker.
Herman's life journey on earth was completed on May 24, 2018. Herman leaves behind a loving family: his beloved wife Betty J. Seals; son Gregory Seals (daughter-in-law Pamela Seals); daughters Crystal Seals-Sutton (son-in-law Shannon Sutton), and Valerie Seals-Ridgway (son-in-law Da'Ron Ridgway); 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a host of family and friends.
Herman was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Lee James Seals.
Herman's love and memories will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Herman also leaves behind 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a host of family to cherish his memory.
