James R. “Butch” Peacock, 79, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on September 18, 2026. He was born on
January 26, 1947, in Owensboro, Kentucky, the son of Beverly Junior Peacock, a World War II veteran, and Ola
Octavia Sosh Peacock.
Butch attended Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, Virginia, through the eighth grade and Florida Air
Academy in Melbourne, Florida, through high school. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 6, 1969, served during
the Vietnam era, and received an honorable discharge on January 12, 1972. He later earned a Bachelor of Science
degree from Morehead State University.
In July 1975, Butch married Marlana Ruth “Lana” Moore. Their son, Jameson Burl Allen Peacock, was born on

After moving to the Las Vegas area, Butch built a long career in the electrical construction industry with
Dynalectric, working as an electrician and project manager. His first Las Vegas project was at The Mirage, and over
the years he contributed to multimillion-dollar projects on the Las Vegas Strip and elsewhere across the country.
Butch was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, a member of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky F. & A.M. (Masons), and an
Honorary Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed golf, playing pool, soccer, hockey, embroidery, woodworking, and a
variety of crafts. He will be remembered for the many interests he pursued, the work he took pride in, and the life he
shared with family and friends.

Cemetery in Henderson, Nevada. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital.
