Jan was born on October 13,1956 in Philadelphia, PA to Lucille (nee Hollander) and Seymour Courte. Ján is predeceased by her parents and survived by her husband, Ira Brandell, brother, Louis Courte, and nephew, Michael Courte. After several years on Wall Street Jan set off to tour Europe, live in Greece, and live in Israel, where she took part in an archeologic dig, and farmed on a kibbutz. Following several months in New York she journeyed to South America and spent time in Mexico and Guatemala. Jan lived in New Jersey, New York, Florida, Colorado and California before returning to study in Israel for a year. On her journeys she was a spiritual seeker and seeker of beauty in music, art, and in humanity, On her journey to being a hospice chaplain and leading religious services she was a risk arbitrage analyst, a massage therapist, a real estate agent, socially responsible investment advisor, and a volunteer. She sought beauty and brought her spark of music and art to all of her endeavors and always had a beautiful smile.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 9:00AM at King David Memorial Chapel 2697 E. Eldorado Lane, Las Vegas, NV. Burial will follow at Palm Eastern Cemetery, 7600 S. Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV, The services will be livestream.
The family requests that donations in Jan’s memory be sent to Sharsheret.org, The League of Women Voters, The Palm Beach Symphony, Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches, Women of the Wall, or Temple Torat Emet of Boynton Beach.
