

Janice E. Kilber, 82, the daughter of James and Mary Jane Opsahl (Both Deceased) and the loving wife of Jerry Kilber (Deceased) passed away on April 17, 2026, at Nathan Adelson Hospice, Las Vegas, NV.
She married Jerry Kilber on November 23, 1963, and they remained together until his death on March 13, 2026. She is survived by her three children: Jolynn Kilber of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; James Kilber (Lori) of Henderson, Nevada; and Julie (Todd) Fredlund of Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a loving and proud grandmother of Jace, Jenna, Jada and Jacob Kilber, as well as Tyler and Jordan Fredlund and a cherished great grandmother to Hayden, Jasper and Ace. She was a sister to Jim Opsahl of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Joanne Schlekewy of Las Vegas, Nevada, June Markuson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Judy Lapka Ipswich, South Dakota and John Opsahl of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jan grew up in the Westport/Frederick area and attended school at Westport Public School, later graduating from Frederick Public High School in 1961. After graduating from high school, she obtained her license in cosmetology and worked as a hairdresser for 25 years, owning her own hair salon, “Jan’s World of Beauty” for 15 of those years. She later worked part-time as a South Dakota State Cosmetology Inspector for 16 years as well as a receptionist for the local dentist’s office.
Jan loved spending time with her family and friends enjoying many horse shows and attending her children’s track, basketball, football and wrestling events. She rarely missed any of her children’s events. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, making beautiful memories.
Jan and her husband resided in Ipswich almost their entire life, where they deeply appreciated their close-knit rural community. Jan was an active member of the church and enjoyed working in the church. She held many offices, sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school and youth groups. She was also an active leader for the local 4-H group for almost 20 years.
In the later years, Jan loved to travel and spent her winter months in Las Vegas, so she could be closer to her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved every minute of her stays in Las Vegas and often spent time attending Vegas shows, playing cards and having coffee with her siblings. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jan will be deeply missed and forever cherished, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
