Jean Ruth Wagoner

Jean Ruth Wagoner, affectionately known by all who cherished her as Nanny, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on July 4th, 2024 surrounded by family. Born in England, she made her home in the United States in 1973, bringing with her a spirit of resilience and warmth that touched everyone she met.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel May and William George Douglas, and her beloved husband, Earl Eugene Wagoner, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and love. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Joyce, Joan, Ruth, and Iris.

Jean is survived by her loving daughter, Carolyn Brown (Tim Haskell), and her devoted son, Peter Wagoner, brothers George, Stephen, and Martyn Douglas, and sisters Sheila, Jackie, Christine, and Carrol. Her legacy extends through her grandchildren: Starsha (Jeremie) Canaday, Crystal (Johnny) Humphreys, Christopher (Chynna Ramelb), Michael Brown, Anthony Wagoner, and Vernon Wagoner. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy: Mathue Davion, Cooper, Colette, Raidyn, Lilly, and Oakley. In addition, Jean is survived by 26 nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

To know Nanny was to love her. Her strength, determination, and infectious sense of humor endeared her to all who crossed her path. She was not only a loving mother and grandmother but also a caretaker who selflessly looked after everyone around her. In her younger years, Jean worked at Woolworths and served in the Royal Air Force. She retired from Torrey Pines Apartments in Las Vegas.  

Nanny's life will be celebrated for the love she gave and the memories she created. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her kindness, warmth, and tenacity.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society.

A memorial service will be held at King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery on Friday, July 19th, 2024 at 2:00pm to honor and remember the remarkable life of Jean “Nanny” Wagoner.
