John served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as an infantryman, completing two tours of duty, from 1965-67, and was a decorated veteran, receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Combat Infantry Badge, among other distinctions.
John and Mary Ann began their married life together on July 22, 1967, shortly after John concluded his combat service in Vietnam, and would welcome two sons, six grandchildren, and one great-grandson to their family.
John began his career as a police officer for the City of New York in 1968, and retired in 1983 after sustaining an injury in the line of duty. He relocated with his wife and sons to Las Vegas in 1995 where he began his second career as a realtor in the midst of the Las Vegas housing boom. He retired in 2006. John was the consummate jack-of-all trades. Almost entirely self-taught, John developed remarkable skills in carpentry and home improvement, automobile mechanics, and information technology.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann; sons, Brian and Gregory; six grandchildren, Nicole, Devin, William, Brian, Claire, and Nicholas; and great-grandson, Logan.
