
John J. Gundy, 89, a resident of Henderson, Nevada, and also of Hazleton, passed away on November 9th at Saint Rose Siena Hospital, Henderson, Nevada after a brief illness. John was born in West Hazleton on August 10, 1926, a son of the late John and Helen (Mondock) Gundy. He graduated from Hazle Township High School Class of 1944. He was employed by Pennsylvania Power and Light for 41 years prior to his retirement on March 1, 1986. John was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hazleton. John was a very kind, caring family man and an avid animal lover. He enjoyed spending time with the dogs of his two daughters, Bruno, Brutus, Bongo, Mallory and Zara. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Thomas Gundy. John is survived by his wife, the former Bernadine Brutosky, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on October 15th; his two daughters, Cynthia Ann Miller and her husband Mark, of Henderson, Nevada and Jill Marie Quinn and her husband Edward, of Hazleton. A private viewing was held for the immediate family with a religious service on November 10th at Palm Mortuary, Las Vegas, Nevada. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Hazleton at the convenience of the family.
