Joshua Scot Harbison, of Henderson, Nevada passed away January 25, 2019 after a bravely fought battle with High Grade Synovial Sarcoma in Las Vegas, Nevada. Joshua (or Josh as he was known to most) was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 27, 1989.
Josh is survived by a very large loving family including parents: John J. Harbison III & Laura Harbison and Kimberly Ann Coon; grandparents: John J. Harbison Jr, Maxie A. Hatcher Jr, Janice L. Hatcher, Ralph & Amy Smiecinski, Sandra E. Hadley-Micheli, and T.J. Coon; siblings: Maxie Harbison, John Harbison IV, Kameron Worthington, Sabrina (Tim) Norris, Kendall Worthington, Samantha (Chase) Shelley, Colton Harbison, and Kyle Worthington; aunts/uncles: Karen (Julian) Benzer, Andrea Bradley, Julie (Quinn) Trapp, Ashley (Mat) Minton, Lisa (Don) Schindler, David (Jeanette) Smiecinski, Pamela (Naveed Mughal) Hilts, Jeffrey Smiecinski, Thayer "Ty" Coon, and Mackenzie Coon; girlfriend Amanda Nieto; and many cousins and other extended family members.
Josh was a sweet, kind ray of light in the life of everyone he encountered. Always a positive and inspiring person, Josh never stopped fighting his illness a single day. He always wanted everyone around him to be happy, Josh always made everyone around him smile (and usually laugh out loud). He loved sports, especially football (loving to watch his favorite team the Ravens), and played flag football and volleyball any chance he got. He was into physical fitness, always eating healthy (preferring organic foods) and worked out at the gym faithfully. Josh was exceptionally coordinated, so sports and games, like ping pong, came naturally to him, and he was an amazing dancer (as attested to by his beloved girlfriend Amanda Nieto). Also a talented musician, Josh was self-taught with 6 & 12 string guitars, wrote his own music, and sang. Josh and his cousin, Zach Bradley, spent hours upon hours writing and playing beautiful songs. Being exceptionally creative, he loved writing short stories and in 2018 started a podcast with his dear friend John Dodds. Josh received his Associate of Arts in 2011 and was only a few classes away from finishing his Bachelor’s Degree. He loved his job at Hanks at Green Valley Ranch (and thoroughly enjoyed his co-workers, who provided him amazing support during his battle). Josh spent a lot of time with his siblings and was very close to each and every one of them.
“Family is Forever” was his mantra. He loved, and was loved, fiercely.
