

Karleen Bedich (Vath), 79, of Las Vegas passed away Jan. 25, 2012. She was born in Pennsylvania, Aug. 18, 1932. She married George T. Bedich, her high school sweetheart, and they were married for 62 years. Karleen worked in Pennsylvania as a medical assistant and secretary for numerous doctors. After moving to Las Vegas in 1982, she worked at the Imperial Palace and later at the Aladdin from where she retired. Because of a difficult childhood, she vowed to herself that she would be the best mother possible. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and loved them dearly. She crocheted afghans for them and enjoyed making their favorite cookies and Croatian Kolachy (nut rolls) for them. At the age of 73, she started painting, using acrylics on canvas. Her personality was humorous and candid. Karleen often said if you can't find something to laugh at your in trouble. She leaves behind her beloved husband, "Mooney;" her six children, George J. (Sandy) Bedich, Gerald (Janet) Bedich, Monica (Gary) Clarke, Karleen (Gerald) McClimans, Teresa (Rod) Pope, and Lisa Exposito; her brother, Gary Vath; sister, Maxine Kenny; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1., with funeral services following, all at Palm Mortuary-Eastern, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial following at Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
