Katherine Rosalie Marzan; daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, will be sorely missed; at 73 years young this long-time resident of the Las Vegas area, departed this world on July 18th, 2014 at Nathan Adelson Hospice. She was born October 27, 1940 in Boise, Idaho to Kate Reid and Jasen Howell. She showed how strong she was by surviving scarlet fever as a child and has been a strong woman and role model to everyone since. Katherine started her career off as a cocktail waitress in the late 1960’s on the Las Vegas strip. She was one of the lucky people who get to marry their soul mate, Epifanio Marzan, on November 27, 1970. Their love has been the guiding light to what their children and grandchildren should strive to find in their own lives. They went on to own a restaurant “Marzans Hickory House” in 1973. Katherine moved to Fallon, Nevada in 1976 for a few years where she owned her own ranch. Later Katherine decided she wanted to pursue a career as an Interior Designer. Then moved to Reno where she started the business “Interior by Marzan” which led to her moving back to Las Vegas as the economy was booming in 1989. The memories her children and grandchildren cherish most are those of her singing, the way her sweet voice sounded and the silly songs that made all children laugh, or stop crying, or distracted, or stop throwing a tantrum. Katherine enjoyed the simple things in life; ice cream, Lemon Meringue pie, playing bingo, but most of all spending time with the family. Her Spirit is carried on by her sister Yvonne; husband Epifanio; children Jana, Jeffrey, and Eric; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Palm Eastern Mortuary on July 24th at 12pm.
