Kathleen Marie Pellegrino

Katie Pellegrino (nee Heenan) passed away peacefully, August 10, 2024, at the age of 58, surrounded by her family, at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nevada. Katie was a loving mother to her two children, Vince and Talia, and grandmother to Kazim and Haiden. Katie was the third child born to an Air Force family on September 21, 1965, in Anchorage, Alaska. As a “military brat” Katie moved often in her childhood living in Maryland, Illinois, California and Portugal. In 1979, the family moved to Las Vegas when her father was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base and Katie remained in Las Vegas for the rest of her life. Katie attended Eldorado High School and graduated from UNLV with a degree in Education. She further obtained two master’s Degrees related to Education and was a lifelong learner. Katie took incredible pride in her chosen profession as an educator and worked in the Clark County School District for over 34 years as a teacher and an administrator. She last served as the principal of Dearing Elementary School. Katie loved working with the staff of Dearing and the needs of the Dearing students were her top priority. Katie took pride in mentoring the teachers at her school and always had a smile and a positive comment for everyone. She loved all her students and took pride in their accomplishments. Katie found her calling in working with Title I schools and worked her entire career at these schools. Katie was adored by her family and friends and is survived by her daughter Talia (Hadie), son Vince, and grandsons Kazim and Haiden. She is also survived by her brother Dan (Molly), Sean (Anna) and sister Jennie (Bob). Katie was loved greatly by all of her nephews and nieces. Visitation will be at Palm Mortuary, 7600 South Eastern Ave, on Thursday, September 12 from 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be on Friday, September 13 at 11:00 am, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2300 Sunridge Heights Parkway, Henderson. Internment will immediately follow at Palm Mortuary on Eastern Ave.
