She grew up and attended grades 1-12 in Kingsburg, California. She graduated from U.C. Davis with a BA degree, and attained a teaching credential. After marrying David Rice, they moved to the San Diego area, where she lived until 1998. She retired from Kaiser Permanente, San Diego, and moved to Las Vegas in January 1998. She worked in the Las Vegas Clark County Library District, until retiring in 2006. She continued to volunteer at the Enterprise Library and was active in the Desert Tortoise Group.
She is survived by her brother, David Westerling (Shirley) of Kingsburg; and by her loving companion, of 15 years, Richard Shenberger.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, November 17th, at Palm Mortuary located at 7600 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas.
