On November 17, 2013 at 2:56pm God saw need to call home. Kevin Maurice Carter was born on May 5, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois to the parents of Bennett and Helen Carter. Kevin was the second son born to his parents. Kevin was christened and baptized at an early age at the National All Saints Truth Center where his parents and brother were members. Kevin’s early and formal education was in Chicago public schools. Kevin and his parents moved to his grandfather’s hometown of Aurora, Illinois in 1970. Here is where he met Beverly Ann Bass and they were married June 28, 1975. To this union no children were born. Their marriage ended in 1977. Kevin later met Alice Williams and they were united in 1978 and to this union two children were born, Krystal in 1980 and Kevin Jr. in 1981. Kevin’s first daughter, Akeysia Simmons, was born in 1979. Kevin and Alice divorced in 1989. Kevin’s joy was fishing; him and his Uncle William spent many days fishing together—that was Kevin’s hobby. He loved animals of all kinds. Kevin always had a pet, or several pets. He loved the outdoors. He worked many years with his father in their landscaping business. Kevin was a hard and caring worker. He always did his best for his dad. His father’s business was dissolved in 1991 and the family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Kevin moved to Las Vegas in 1994. Kevin met Theresa Jackson in 1999; they formed an intimate personal relationship that lasted until Kevin’s death. Kevin was preceded in death by his mother Helen Pryor Carter; and his older brother Bennett L. Carter Jr. Kevin is survived by his father Bennett L. Carter; son Kevin Carter Jr.; daughters Krystal and Akeysia Carter; brothers Michael Carter, Byron Carter, and Tyson Carter; uncles Rev. Dr. Frederick Streets, Carl Carter, Milton J. Clay and Walter Pryor Jr.; aunts Catherine Smith, Denise Carter, Mary, Cleo, Cora, and Catherine Clay; nieces Carolyn Streets, Krystn Knight, Velvet, Marty and Helene Sanders; nephews Bennett L. Streets, Timothy Carter, Gavin Carter, Michael Carter Jr., John Griffin Carter and Cody Carter; a host of cousins, friends, and long-time best friend Ann Spite. Kevin’s beautiful down to earth, good natured love, and wonderful smile will never be forgotten. He was truly God’s gift to us all.
