Kristen Margaret Beals

Kristen Margaret Hughes Beals was born on October 2nd, 1947, in El Paso, Texas to Caroline Pierce and Dewey Clark Hughes. Kristen returned to live with her Heavenly Father on May 1st, 2025 (on her mother's 100th birthday!), after a long struggle following a stroke. Kristen was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, having gained a testimony of her Savior at a very young age. Kristen never questioned the truthfulness of the Gospel and was a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Kristen met and fell in love with her eternal companion, Willard Harlan Beals, while he was home on leave during Vietnam. Kristen and Willard were sealed for all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona temple on July 3rd, 1969. In 1991 Kristen and Willard moved their family to Grand Canyon, Arizona, where Kristen worked as a Teachers Aid for Grand Canyon School District. Kristen became the Computer Lab aid and was beloved by all students, teachers and staff. Kristen and Willard have been married for almost 56 years. After both retiring in 2002, Kristen and Willard moved to Las Vegas. Kristen and Willard raised 5 children together and have been blessed with 13 grandchildren. Kristen is preceded in death by both of her parents, Clark and Caroline Hughes, 2 sisters, Carol Patton and Sue Martin and her little brother, Scott Hughes. Kristen is survived by her husband, Willard Harlan Beals, son Stephen Beals (Theresa), daughters Cathryn Fetner (Travis), Margaret Peck, Caroline Marsmaker (Brandon), Sarah Calkins (Robert) and brother George Hughes. She is also survived by her grandchildren Brigham, Sean, Seth, Josephine, Mason, Emily, Junell, Kensley, Stacie, Pyper, Piercelynn, Foster and Blain. Funeral Services for Kristen will be held on Wednesday, May 28th at 2pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 9270 South Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89123. There will be a viewing at the church at 1pm. Burial services will take place at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Mem, Boulder City, NV 89005, on Thursday, May 29th at 1040 AM.
