Kris was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 16, 1956 to William D. and Shirley (Ellbogen) Harris. She was raised in Casper, Wyoming where she attended St. Anthony Catholic School, Dean Morgan Junior High and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1974. She graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1978 with an Elementary Education degree where she was also a member of Tri Delta sorority. She also obtained a Master's Degree in Education from UNLV. She received multiple awards throughout her 30-year teaching career with the Clark County School District.
During her first marriage, Kris was blessed with her son, Ryan, in 1982. Kris then met the love of her life, Sherman Mayor, in 1989. They married on Coronado Island, California. Kris enjoyed many activities including driving cross country, reading, painting and fishing.
With her smile, her eternal happy mood, and twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes, she brought a ray of sunshine to everyone she touched. She had a most generous spirit and inner strength that knew no bounds.
Kris is survived by her loving husband, Sherman; her devoted son, Ryan Goldhammer of Reno; sisters, Kathy Halvorsen of Charlottesville, Virginia, Patty Montoya (Dan) of Denver, Colorado, Susie Harris of Denver, and Ann Huber (Tim) of Omaha, Nebraska; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Sunday, July 15, 2018 with service following, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. A burial will be held at 1:00pm at Palm Cemetery.
